It’s almost to the point where it’s literally, a dime a dozen. Domain registrars are the companies that hold a database of domain names and the detailed information about the domains. For example:
“domainname.com” would have the following attributes in the database:
-website IP address (can be the registrar or a third party hosting company) -A records (friendly name, i.e. http://www.domainname.com) -MX records (email server address) -CNAME records (other friendly name, i.e. http://office.domainname.com) -SOA (start of authority) -domain owner (you) -domain administrator (could be different than owner)
When you purchase a domain name, the registrar will have you supply this information so that the new domain can be found on the Internet. Typically, it takes 24 hours or less for the domain name to be “live” once this information is provided.
All in all, it’s a fairly simple process to register a domain since most registrars make the process very easy to understand. Every registrar will provide a search feature that let’s you find a domain name and insure that it’s unique. If the name is already taken, they will likely suggest a list of similar names that are available.
So, who are the best registrars? Well, there are thousands of them and they all provide the same service, but there are a few that stand out.
Yahoo.com
* $5/yr. for each domain name (one of the cheapest) * very simple registration process * easy navigation * good options for hosting the website * a few limitations for mail routing
Register.com
* $29/yr. for each domain name * simple registration/easy navigation * lots of extra services that can be bundled (search ads, website templates, etc..)
WSMdomains.com (part of http://hosting.com)
* $15/yr. for each domain name * simple registration/easy navigation * very cool spf feature for reducing spam
So who’s the best? Well, they are all so very much the same that you really can’t go wrong with any of them. However, http://wsmdomains.com has every feature you will need and the spam reduction configuration is worth the extra $10/yr. over Yahoo.

With more and more costs involved in getting a web presence started, and those costs rising rapidly, clients are looking to saving money in more ways than ever before. There are many types of fees involved in creating a website. With web hosting space, software to create the sites, email costs, and other recurring monthly and annual costs more companies now look for ways to save money on domain names and registration services. This is a small yearly fee but it adds up when considering the other costs involved even for a small company. Large companies are often faced with the need for multiple domain names and that only serves to compound the yearly cost of operating their online site. Free domain names can be found, but it is wise to study the pros and cons of these services and what they imply.
There are several different methods to get a free domain name registration and learning them is not much tricky. In fact, there are a number of strategies with the help of which a business organization can avoid the extra troublesome fees charged just for registration. There are several online as well as local website registration and hosting companies. The various features offered by both of these types of companies are more or less similar.
Here are few useful tips to get a free domain name:
* When you are looking for domain name companies online or a hosting company online make sure you completely investigate each one to obtain the best packages available. When you study the details make sure they include domain name registration for free. Many organizations get this service from their web hosts because of the massive business they send their way.
* One of the easiest way to get a free domain name from a web hosting company is to use the same organization for domain registration as well as for web hosting, email registration and even web design in required.
* Whenever possible use a local hosting company for your domain name registration and site space. This is a great way to ensure the best possible service since they operate right nearby and you have close contact and the ability to negotiate personally and bargain effectively in person.
* See if the particular web host gives domain names and yearly upkeep with a package plan. This allows you to secure your personal data and information on you or your business without the public being able to access it. People trying to take advantage of public websites happen quite a lot. If that occurs your webhost will contact you and let you know of a breech, or an attempted breech of your privacy.
* Now you can often find free TLD domains. Search for free domain service providers and gain points by signing on to any of their offers. The more points you earn the greater your chances of getting one or even more free TLD domain names.
There are a number of online domain name service providers that offer free domain names. Some of these kinds of online service providers offer free sub domain redirection whereas there are others who enable a business organization to get even a free top level domain name. These include:
Freedomain.co.nr
This domain name provider has a lot of great features for the website owner. They offer no-cost redirection that are more commonly known as Domain Forwarding services. They also provide URL masking, URL cloaking, and the ability to use Path Forwarding and some other services. One of the many other cool features of this host is their offer help with Meta Tags, and Favicon. The only requirement for the free services is a link back directed at their main site. That is a small price to pay for all of the free options.
Dot.tk:
Dot.tk is a commonly used domain name service. It is one of the better free sub domain name providers and gives its clients .tk domains. The drawback to this company is the free service expires if certain conditions are not met by the user. If you obtain one of these names your site must receive at least 25 visitors inside of a 90 day period. It is your responsibility to keep up the traffic to your site or you will lose the use of it.
Uni.cc
This company provides terrific tools for site building and TLD domains as well as their free domain names. The also offer redirection and other options. The only drawback to Uni.cc is that they do not provide hosing, ftp, or email hosting at this time. They are a great source of domain names and redirection for free if you already have website space.
GeoCities
It is one of the most popular free domain name provider site. The for-fee premium web hosting service is introduced by Yahoo! and it provides 3 GB monthly bandwidth limit. However, there are banner or popup advertisements on every page. The services provided by this site include manual for creating a web page, PageBuilder, design tools, PageWizards, File Manager and several other great add-on options.
Google Page Creator
It is a free website creation and website service provided by Google offering .googlepages.com domains. They provide 100 Megabytes of file and page storage, 41 web templates, page layout tools, HTML, CSS and JavaScript editing, and AutoSave option etc. A user is entitles for registering three unique sub domains. The best feature of this free domain name service provider is that there are no advertisements of any kind.
Fadlan.com
This service, like Google and yahoo's free sites offers sub domain names for free. Your name would appear before or after these types of names such as yourname.fadlan.com. Fadlan.com also offers free redirection and forwarding. These types of sub domain names are great for non-profit organizations, or personal web pages, and fan sites.
Afraid.org
One of the best features of Afraid.org is the ability to pick from several extension sub domains. You need to sign up at their web site and they will give you many services such as updating your IP redirection. There is a 50 sub domain limit for each individual user. They are often used for domain hosting, free DNS and Dynamic hosting.

A domain name is a valuable property of any business or any individual who would like to establish a presence online. It is extremely important to register your domain name carefully and with the right registrar. I would like to share my experience with you and hopefully you can use it to pick a domain registrar that will treat you fairly.
When you set up a website there are two important institutions that you must deal with, first the registrar and secondly the hosting firm. If your hosting firm treats you badly all you have to do is to change the "DNS" settings and move to a new hosting firm where you can upload your files. The process takes only 24-48 hours and involves little disruption.
However, if your domain name registrar mistreats you, you can end up losing your domain name entirely. A registrar is simply a company that has been entrusted to sell domain names to companies and individuals for a certain fee. The fees that are charged vary considerably and the service that the registrars provide also varies quite a bit.
A good price for a dot com name nowadays is about $10 per year. Beware of someone selling them very cheaply. For example, Yahoo was advertising domains at $1.98 and $9.98 per year and now is going to raise the price (July 2008) to $34.95. Anyone who stocked up on a lot of domain names will be in difficulty.
Yahoo is a big company and they are a problem. Even worse are small companies who actually resell domain names as agents for larger companies. Some of these firms have no contact details (telephone, physical address) and if they go out of business it can be a problem for you.
There are other firms that never notify you when your domain is about to expire. I have had particularly bad experience with Enom and with resellers of Enom domains. The minute your domain name payment is overdue, they shut down your domain (putting up ads instead) and if you wait for more than a month you may lose the domain entirely or have to pay a huge fee to get it back.
So choose a domain name registrar that has proper contact details and that has a good record in notifying its clients about pending expiration and renewal dates. A very solid company that I have used is www.directnic.com . They notify you 90 days, 30 days and one week in advance of renewal dates and do not shut down the domain if you are late. They currently charge $15 per year.
Another popular domain registrar with a good record is godaddy.com (Although I don't like their website interface which always tries to convince you to buy various services that you may not particularly need).
I would avoid Enom.com and any reseller of Enom and, I am sad to say, Yahoo should also be avoided like the plague! Visit the prospective registrars and see if it is easy to understand their websites. Look at their contact and support information, and if necessary take the help of friends and colleagues who already have websites.
There are several sites coming up everyday, which promises you to learn how to make money? But when you seriously end up going there, you find nothing but thousands and hundreds of bills which you need to pay for a couple of years. Unfortunately most of these sites are a bunch of bunk and all you are going to receive is a headache. Do you wanna know more on domain name tips
In order to make money with domain, you need to have a domain first of all. Once you have a domain to join, you can set up your domain with wallpapers, themes, keywords and different categories etc. At this point you should be able to preview your site, you should see whether it is for your liking or not. Always do things rite or don’t do them at all.
After configuring your site you will then see that there are ads magically placed on your site! These ads come from advertisers that have bought phrases, terms or keywords through sites like Google and Yahoo, these sites then place a sort of feed on your domain, which then allows the advertisements to show up. Pretty cool technology when you think about it! So how exactly do you the owner of this domain make money? Well first and foremost I think it's important to mention the fact that you should NOT be doing searches and clicks on your own domain, this will only get you one thing, and that is banned from the site!
However, if you would like to send visitors from places other than your home such as family, friends, or even complete strangers, they will be allowed to do search and or "clicks" on your site. When the person visits your site they will be presented with two options; they can either do a search in the search box or they can click a keyword on the site. Both of these processes will end in results showing up on the site, after they see the results they must click a result in order for you to get paid!
Depending on what site you join, how much the revenue share program is worth, and a whole truckload of other semantics you will end up with different values for which each click or search is worth. Sometimes it might be worth 15cents and other times you might get lucky and someone might do a search for something that the advertiser put a really high bid on, say $2.50. No two programs are the same, and no two will make you the same amount of money.
They are all different in their own rights, and honestly I like it this way! This is a good chance for you to figure out which sites are good and which are better, which pay less and which pay more. Side tip; if you are not making money at one site, tweak it a little bit, change your keywords or your theme even for that matter, if all else fails, switch sites and move on! Time is money! Lets started with domain parking software

The domain name yahoo has therefore brought and continues to bring a world of difference by providing the free services. Through domain yahoo you will get to see all the products that provided and above the mentioned products are yahoo widgets, yahoo travel, yahoo tool bar, yahoo small business, yahoo shopping, yahoo search, yahoo real estate, yahoo photos, yahoo music, yahoo mobile, yahoo message board, yahoo local, yahoo groups, yahoo finance, yahoo bookmarks, yahoo autos, yahoo 360 and so many other products. Yahoo also provides another vital service pertaining to domains. Domain locking is the prevention of unauthorized transfers to another registrar. Domains that are registered through yahoo can access this service.
You can get access to so much more information through domain yahoo and some of the most common questions that are asked are on how to lock and unlock your domain and the effects of locking. People also want to know how to create a domain name and yahoo has all the information for you to read. Firstly, a good domain name according to yahoo should be clear and simple. People should not have trouble remembering it and, it should show the kind of business you do. Domain names are therefore very vital and to come up with a unique address, you need to spend some time and make sure you have the right name. Remember that domains should contain letters, numbers and hyphens.
What will your website be called? You may have a catchy name for it, but that doesn't mean you'll be able to get that fun name as a web address. You need to do a little domain name research.
Securing the domain name you want is not always easy. Often someone has thought of it before you, so it's already in use, or there could be a squatter sitting on it. Squatters are people who buy up website names that they think would be popular at very low prices, and then offer to sell them to you at a much higher rate if you want to use it.
There is a simple way to know if a web domain is available. Go to a company like Network Solutions and type in the name you are looking for in the 'Find a Domain' box on the front page. It will let you know if that name is available in a .com, .net, .biz, or one of a number of other website suffixes.
Before registering a domain name, you need to think about whom you are registering it with. Some of these registrars seem to change with the tide. So you want to stick with an established company that is not going to be here today and gone tomorrow, with your information.
Once you register your name, if you ever want to move it to another server not all registrars are helpful. Be cautious of going through places like Yahoo or Domain Registry of America. They like to keep a hold of your domain name once you purchase it, and you'll have to jump through a lot of hoops and do a lot of work if you ever want to move it to another server. Meanwhile, If you choose a registrar like Network Solutions or GoDaddy they are much more cooperative.
With that said, lets get a domain name. I would advise doing this yourself, unless you are having someone you really trust do this. Letting someone less than trustworthy register for you could end up with your domain name registered in their name, and you lose control. So, go through the search and select the name you want and register it in your name (at a cost of 5 to 40 dollars per year).
You will receive a lot of registration information including your login and password information to access the domain. Make sure you keep this in a safe place, so when you're ready to build out the site, you don't have a roadblock that pushes you back in the process.
Done? You're one step closer to your own independent website!

Not only will your domain name be a breeze to remember, but people will instantly associate your product with your name. 2. Increase Search Engine Ranking. Search engines take into account the relevance of your domain name to your product or service, so the easier it is to associate your domain name to your product, the higher your search engine ranking will be

Ask any online marketer what their domain name means to them, and they will automatically tell you that their domain name is their company’s identity. It tells surfer everything they need to know: who they are? What they do? What their product/service can do for them.
It essentially acts as a summation of your company’s web identity, so making sure you pick one that accurately describes you is vital for your digital marketing strategy.
For this reason we recommend that you pick something that is memorable, distinct and original. One that stands out from the rest in your product niche, but also at the same time efficiently reflects your company’s products/service.
